Barclay CTA Index Gains 0.87% in July; Traders Profit from Financial Market Unrest
FAIRFIELD, Iowa, August 17, 2015 — Managed futures traders gained 0.87% in July according to the Barclay CTA Index compiled by BarclayHedge. The Index is up 0.48% year to date.
“A rally in the value of the US Dollar sparked by the expectation of imminent Fed tightening, coupled with fears of China joining Japan and the Eurozone on the loosening bandwagon generated gains for CTAs," says Sol Waksman, founder and president of BarclayHedge.

Barclay Hedge Fund Index Drops 0.28% in July; Grexit Fears and its Aftermath Challenges Fund Managers
FAIRFIELD, Iowa, August 13, 2015 — Hedge funds lost 0.28% in July, according to the Barclay Hedge Fund Index compiled by BarclayHedge. The Index is up 3.05% year to date.
“July was a difficult month for hedge fund managers. The first half was dominated by Grexit fears and the equity sell-off in China. The theme of the second half of the month was recovery from the first half,” says Sol Waksman, founder and president of BarclayHedge.

June 2015 Hedge Fund and CTA Performance
The Barclay Hedge Fund Index fell 1.09% in June, as 14 of 18 hedge fund strategies were in negative territory. However, the Index remains up 3.33% year to date. The estimates for July, along with the number of funds reporting for each of our 18 sectors can be found at the link below. These indices are being continually updated as current returns for the underlying hedge funds are recorded into our system. As of this writing, 12 of 18 hedge fund sectors are showing positive returns for July.
Commodity Trading Advisor performance for June as measured by the Barclay CTA Index averaged -2.08%. July’s estimate based on the performance of the Barclay BTOP50 Index is +2.61%.
